Having already photographed several Japanese couples in Paris, I know that creating these images involves much more than meeting in front of the Eiffel Tower with a camera.
A true pre-wedding session requires preparation. We need to think about the light, the atmosphere, the distance between locations, your outfits and, most importantly, the way you would like this chapter of your story to feel.

You do not need to arrive with every detail already decided. Part of my role is to help you understand what is realistic and what will create the best photographic result.

More than a couple photoshoot in Paris
A pre-wedding session and a casual couple photoshoot do not always require the same level of preparation.
For a simple couple session, you may wear one outfit and explore one neighbourhood together. A full pre-wedding experience can involve a wedding dress, a suit, professional hair and makeup, a bouquet, several locations, transport and sometimes a second look.
That changes the rhythm of the day.
There needs to be enough time to walk in formal clothes, protect the dress, adjust hair and makeup, change outfits and travel across Paris without turning the experience into a race.
Depending on your plans, you can book:

- A longer session combining several Parisian locations
- A pre-wedding production with formal outfits, beauty preparation and transport
- A more complete experience created with additional professionals and Japanese-speaking coordination

Japanese-speaking support in Paris
I conduct most of the preparation in English, but you do not need to speak perfect English to enjoy your session.
I can use simple Japanese while photographing you and, perhaps even more importantly, I rely on clear demonstrations and visual guidance. I would much rather show you a movement than deliver a five-minute explanation while the morning light disappears.
For couples who would feel more comfortable receiving complete assistance in Japanese, I also collaborate with a Japanese-speaking agency based in Europe. Depending on your needs, this support may include communication, outfits, hair and makeup, bouquet, transport and practical coordination.
This allows you to choose the right level of assistance. Some couples travel from Japan with everything already prepared and only need a photographer. Others prefer to have the whole experience coordinated locally.
Both options are perfectly possible.

Wedding dresses, suits and outfit changes
Your outfits do more than determine what you will wear. They influence the locations, the transport and the amount of time we need.
A long wedding dress may look spectacular around the Louvre or beside the Seine, but it can be difficult to carry through crowded streets. Some fabrics also crease easily during a car journey, while elaborate dresses may require another person to help with the train.
If you plan to bring your wedding clothes from Japan, I recommend checking:

Comfortable shoes are always worth bringing. You can change into formal shoes for the photographs without walking across half of Paris in them. Your feet will thank you later.
For most sessions, two carefully chosen outfits are more than enough. Adding more looks may sound appealing, but every change takes time away from creating photographs.
Hair, makeup and your bouquet
Hair and makeup should be planned around the starting time of the photoshoot, not the other way around.
If we begin early in the morning to avoid crowds, your beauty preparation may need to start several hours before the session. This is especially important in spring and summer, when the best time for certain iconic locations can be shortly after sunrise.
Your bouquet should also suit the proportions and colours of your outfits. It does not have to be enormous to make an impact. A thoughtful floral composition often photographs more elegantly than a very large bouquet that becomes difficult to carry all morning.
When necessary, these services can be discussed with the Japanese-speaking coordination team so that the different professionals work from the same schedule.
Choosing your Paris locations without spending the day in a car
Paris offers an extraordinary variety of settings, but visiting every famous landmark does not automatically create a stronger gallery.
The most successful itineraries usually combine locations that bring different moods without requiring constant travel. For example:

The Eiffel Tower remains a meaningful location for many couples travelling from Japan, and there is nothing wrong with wanting that iconic photograph. The key is choosing the right viewpoint and time of day so that the photographs still feel personal.
The Louvre and Palais-Royal work beautifully with formal wedding outfits and clean compositions. The Seine creates a softer, more spontaneous atmosphere. Smaller streets, cafés and stone façades can bring warmth and a sense of everyday Paris to a second outfit.
I will recommend an itinerary according to your session length, clothes, season and preferred style. I will also tell you honestly when an itinerary is too ambitious. Nobody dreams of spending their pre-wedding session checking the time and running towards the next taxi.
When is the best time for a pre-wedding photoshoot in Paris?
Early morning is usually the best choice for iconic Parisian locations.
There are fewer visitors, the city feels calmer and the soft light is flattering. We also have more freedom to work with the architecture without constantly waiting for a clear background.
During spring and summer, an early session may require a very early wake-up. It is not always the most glamorous part of the experience, but once you see Paris almost empty around you, it tends to make sense.
Evening light can be beautiful, particularly near the Seine, but popular locations are likely to be much busier. Winter offers later sunrises and softer daylight, while autumn can bring rich colours and a more cinematic atmosphere.
There is no universally perfect season. The best choice depends on the kind of photographs you want—and how willing you are to meet Paris before breakfast.
My approach to pre-wedding photography
My work combines documentary photography with an editorial sensibility.
In practice, this means I will help you when direction is useful: where to stand, what to do with your hands, how to move together or how to use the light. But I will not ask you to perform the same pose again and again.
Some images will be carefully composed. Others will happen while you are walking, talking, laughing or simply taking a breath between two locations.
You do not need modelling experience, and you do not need to know what to do in front of the camera. That is my responsibility, not yours.
I pay attention to posture and composition, but also to what naturally exists between you. The photographs should look polished without feeling disconnected from your relationship.

I photograph couples without making assumptions about gender, roles or how affection should be expressed. You will never be asked which person is “the man” or expected to reproduce poses designed for somebody else’s relationship.

My aim is to create an environment in which you both feel respected, comfortable and free to be yourselves. The photographs will be elegant because of the attention given to light, composition and emotion—not because you have been pushed into someone else’s idea of a couple.
Receiving and using your photographs in Japan
Your photographs will be delivered through a private online gallery that you can access from Japan.
The final files include high-resolution versions suitable for printing and lighter versions for online sharing. Depending on your plans, you may use them for:

Yes. We can plan the photographic itinerary remotely, including locations, timing, outfits, transport and the overall visual direction. You do not need to know Paris before contacting me.

How long should our pre-wedding photoshoot be?

Can we photograph several locations in one session?
Yes, as long as the itinerary remains realistic. I prefer creating a coherent gallery in a few carefully selected places rather than spending most of the session travelling across Paris.
What happens if it rains?
Light rain does not necessarily mean cancelling. It can create reflections, movement and a wonderful cinematic atmosphere. If the weather becomes genuinely difficult, we will assess the forecast and discuss the most appropriate solution according to the conditions of your booking.
Can we bring traditional Japanese clothing?
Yes. Please tell me about the clothing before the session so that we can consider dressing time, transport, movement and whether you will need additional assistance.
How far in advance should we book?
Booking early is recommended, particularly for spring and autumn or when several professionals need to be coordinated. That said, you can always contact me for a last-minute session—I may still have availability.
