A shot list can tell me who should stand beside whom. It cannot tell me who will reach for your hand before you ask.

It cannot predict the friend quietly fixing your clothes, the person already crying before the speech begins, or the embrace that lasts a second longer because of everything that came before it.

Those photographs are rarely requested. I find them by staying close enough to understand the room, and quiet enough not to change it.

For many queer couples, “family” does not fit neatly into one category. There may be relatives, chosen family, old friends, complicated ties, absences and people whose place in your life cannot be explained by a surname. That deserves more than one formal group photograph.

Before every wedding, I ask about the people who matter, the relationships I should understand and the boundaries I should respect. The list gives me a map. The day itself reveals the story.

For a long time, I let the photographs speak while I stayed just outside the frame.

It felt discreet. Professional. Safer, perhaps. But it also left out something essential: there is a queer person and a queer family behind Vibrant Feelings.

That does not make me the right photographer for every LGBTQIA+ couple. Shared identity never replaces listening. But it shapes what I notice, the assumptions I refuse to make, and the space I try to create.

I know that family can mean blood, choice, distance, reunion—or several of those things at once. I know that clothes do not assign roles, that two people do not need to perform opposite energies, and that being welcomed is different from being understood.

This is why I ask about your names, pronouns, relationships and boundaries before I ask how you want to be photographed. It is why publication choices are written clearly into my contract. And it is why I will never ask you to simplify yourselves for the sake of an image.

Visibility is not the whole story. But today, I am choosing not to make this part of mine invisible.

Give me ten minutes.

Not for another perfectly posed portrait.
Not for another photograph of you smiling at the camera.

Give me ten minutes to play.

To experiment with movement, blur, light, composition — and whatever the place gives us.

Most of a wedding day, I’m documenting what unfolds naturally in front of me. The emotions, the people, the unexpected moments, the things you couldn’t plan even if you tried.

But when the timeline gives us a little room to breathe, I also love to create.

To make photographs that sit somewhere between wedding photography, fashion and memory.

Images that don’t necessarily show exactly what the moment looked like.

Sometimes I’m much more interested in what it felt like.

A dress disappearing down a driveway.
Movement instead of perfection.
A photograph that feels almost like a frame pulled from a film.

That creative freedom is one of my favourite parts of photographing weddings — and it’s also why I’ll always encourage my couples to leave a little space in their timeline for us to simply see what happens.

So if you’re planning a destination wedding in Paris, the Île-de-France countryside or elsewhere in France, you don’t need to know how to pose or arrive with a Pinterest board full of ideas.

Bring yourselves.

Give me a little time.

And trust me to create something that feels like you.

I’m not here to assign roles to your relationship.

I’m not here to assign roles to your relationship.

When I photograph a queer couple, I’m not looking for the “masculine one” and the “feminine one”.

I’m not deciding who should lead, who should stand behind, who should hold whom, or who is supposed to take on the traditionally “groom” or “bride” role.

Because that’s not my relationship to define.

My job is to watch how you already exist together.

Who reaches for the other first.
How you make each other laugh.
How you naturally stand, touch, move and take up space together.

And then I photograph that.

Recently, a couple told me they were worried about choosing a photographer who might unconsciously turn one of them into “the man” of the relationship.

And I completely understand why that matters.

Queer-inclusive wedding photography shouldn’t just mean being happy to photograph LGBTQ+ couples.

It should also mean not forcing heterosexual codes onto them once they step in front of the camera.

No assigned roles.
No assumptions.
No template for what your relationship is supposed to look like.

Just the two of you, as you are.

Gay, lesbian, queer, trans and non-binary couples: you never need to perform a version of your relationship for my camera.
